079:365 Roth-Cube

Yesterday I was disappointed that the toned tan didn’t really show as much as I’d liked.

As a kid I couldn’t identify with abstract art, but for some reason Rothko paintings have always drawn me because of the color and the way space plays on the surface.

This is not inspired by Rothko, but when I had finished the central figure, the one you see here, I decided to leave the linen-colored tan paper blank. Then instead of filling the page, I made the color in each section glow and move the way the layered washes in a Rothko glow when you are close to them.

This drawing I did this morning, but have been busy until now.

Back into the breach!
